I'm so captivated with this word "mamihlapinatapai" and with the girl who introduced this to me.Her starry blue eye and her snow white skin with that soft voice,it was love at first sight(with the word and yeah with the girl too).She made me fall in love even more with the word when she explained the meaning of this word.This Unique word's pronunciation itself is so joyous that it puts a smile on my face whenever i say it.The word "Mamihlapinatapai" comes from Yaghan language which is now a dead language but it was spoken in Tierra del Fuego which is on Southern most point of South America.It was also listed in The Guinness Book of World Records as the "most succinct word", and is considered one of the hardest words to translate.
The meaning behind this word is so divine and so unique that i don't think any word in English Language defines such melded emotion.So,the meaning is quite beautiful.It means that moment or feeling when two people both want to initiate something but neither one wants to be the one to start it. It can be perhaps two tribal leaders both wanting to make a peace but neither one wanting to be the one to begin it or It could be two people at a party wanting to approach each-other and neither quite brave enough to make a first move.
